Blackberry Porsche Design P'9981

"With a price tag of $2,000, the exclusive Porsche Design P'9981 Smartphone from BlackBerry is a Bold 9900 in an expensive new skin. It is not a better BlackBerry than the 9900, but if you have the cash and want to stand out, it is definitely the BlackBerry for you."

Pros

  • You feel like the man walking around with a $2,000 phone
  • It's a conversation starter. This phone gets noticed
  • Awesome packaging - it's like opening a luxury watch box
  • Great accessories included - best charging stand ever, branded battery and cleaning cloth a nice touch
  • The exclusive 2AA PIN is awesome - feels like you're in a P'9981 club with Jay Z and Beyonce
  • Steel frame construction gives the phone a nice weighted feeling. It feels expensive.
  • If you meet another person using a P'9981, you'll instantly be friends

Cons

  • It's really expensive, and despite the increased price isn't really better than the Bold 9900
  • Software updates lag that of the Bold 9900 - they'll come, but it's still on OS 7.0
  • No autofocus on the camera
  • Uneven keyboard back lighting feels a bit sloppy
  • Exposed edges on call and hang up keys pose a risk (accidental breakage)
  • Tracking down accessories poses a challenge
  • Battery door a bit of a pain to remove and replace
  • Removing microSD card can be slightly tricky
